How to Climb Apex Legends Ranked: Tiers, RP and Endgame Tactics

Chams CheatsOct 5, 2026

Apex Legends Ranked is the competitive battle royale mode where you earn Ranked Points (RP) to climb from Rookie through Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Master, all the way to Apex Predator. You gain RP by placing well and getting eliminations, and in many seasons each match has also carried an RP entry cost that rises as you climb.

Respawn reworks ranked often. The tiers have stayed fairly stable, but entry costs, kill value, demotion and promotion rules have changed many times between seasons, so treat any exact number as season-specific.

This guide from the Chams team explains how the system works in general terms, what each tier means, and the tactics and tools that help squads reach more endgames.

Key Takeaways

  • Apex Legends Ranked has eight tiers, from Rookie to Apex Predator.
  • Rookie through Diamond each have four divisions, from IV up to I.
  • RP comes mostly from placement, with eliminations and assists adding more.
  • Master is reached by RP, while Apex Predator is a leaderboard spot on your platform.
  • Spotting squads before they spot you is the single biggest edge in late-game circles.

Every Apex Ranked Tier

Here is the ladder as it is structured at the time of writing.

TierDivisionsWhat to expect
RookieIV to IStarting tier while you learn ranked
BronzeIV to ICasual pace, lots of early fights
SilverIV to IPlayers start valuing placement
GoldIV to IWhere many players settle each split
PlatinumIV to IBetter rotations and team play
DiamondIV to IStrong squads and smarter endgames
MasterSingle tierReached by RP, no divisions

Division IV is the bottom of a tier and Division I the top, so Gold I is one step from Platinum IV.

How Ranked Points (RP) Work

RP is the currency of Apex Legends Ranked. After each match you gain or lose RP based on a few main factors:

  • Placement. Finishing higher earns more. Reaching the final circles is the most reliable source of points.
  • Eliminations and assists. Kills, assists and participation add RP, often with a cap and more value later in the match.
  • Entry cost. In many seasons a match costs some RP to start, and that cost grows in higher tiers.
  • Lobby adjustments. Some seasons have scaled gains based on the skill of the lobby you faced.

Because Respawn tunes these values regularly, numbers in older guides are often wrong. The in-game ranked screen and the season patch notes are the best source.

Entry Costs, Splits and Demotion

An entry cost is RP you lose just by starting a match. It exists so higher tiers demand consistent results rather than volume. Low tiers usually have little or no cost, while higher tiers raise it, so a weak finish can leave you with a net loss even after a few kills. Respawn has removed, reduced and restructured entry costs at different points, so check the current system if you are coming back after a break.

Seasons are usually divided into splits. When a new split begins, ranks are partially reset and you start lower than where you finished. Rewards such as badges and trails are generally based on the highest tier you reached, so a late drop does not take away what you earned.

Demotion rules vary too. Some seasons have offered demotion protection right after a promotion, others have allowed demotion more freely. The ranked info screen lists what applies now.

Reaching Master and Apex Predator

Master is reached by earning enough RP to pass Diamond I. It has no divisions, and your RP keeps building once you are there.

Apex Predator is a fixed number of top leaderboard spots on each platform, so you need to be among the highest-RP Master players to hold it. Other players climbing past you can push you out. At this level every placement matters more than any single fight.

Which Legends Work Best in Ranked?

The meta shifts with every balance patch, so a fixed tier list goes stale fast. What stays constant is the value of certain roles:

  • Recon legends scan for enemies and reveal the next circle, which makes rotations safer.
  • Controllers lock down buildings and choke points, ideal for holding endgame positions.
  • Support legends speed up revives and supplies, keeping your squad in the fight.
  • Skirmishers and assault legends start or escape fights quickly when the timing is right.

A squad that covers information, defense and mobility usually outlasts three aggressive picks.

How to Climb in Apex Legends Ranked

  1. Play for placement. Reaching the top five more often is worth more over a split than chasing early kills.
  2. Rotate early. Moving before the circle closes keeps you out of crowded edge fights.
  3. Take fights you can win. Third-partying a weakened squad beats starting a fair fight.
  4. Stick together. Spreading out is one of the most common ways squads lose.
  5. Queue with a party. Communication and consistent teammates are huge advantages.
  6. Warm up first. A few minutes in the Firing Range sharpens your first ranked games.

Leaving a ranked match early can bring an RP penalty and a matchmaking timeout, so play out your games. Some seasons waive the RP loss when a teammate abandons, but repeat quitting is punished more heavily.

Endgame Tactics for the Final Circles

Because placement drives most of your RP, the last few rings are where splits are won or lost. A few habits make a big difference:

  • Claim position early. A building or high ground inside the next ring is worth far more than a few extra kills on the way in.
  • Count squads. Keep track of how many teams remain and where the last fights happened, so you know which direction the next third party will come from.
  • Save utility for the final push. Controller traps, smoke and defensive ultimates do the most work when space is tight.
  • Do not peek for free. In the last rings every exposed second gives enemy squads a chance to chip your shields. Peek with purpose and with your team ready.
  • Think about the zone, not just the enemy. Sometimes the best play is to let two squads fight while you rotate to the next safe spot.

How Chams Tools Help You Reach More Endgames

Most ranked losses come from information gaps: a squad you did not see on the ridge, a third party arriving mid-fight, or an enemy hiding in the last building. The Chams Apex lineup is built to close those gaps and help you win the fights you take.

There are eight tiers at the time of writing: Rookie, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master and Apex Predator. The first six have four divisions each.

How do you get RP fast in Apex?

Place well consistently. Kills and assists add RP, but surviving into the late game is usually worth more over a full split than aggressive early play.

Apex Predator. It is limited to the top Master players on each platform's leaderboard, so you can lose it if others overtake you.
